Me at The Pompidou Centre, Paris. 16th July, 1986.

All I hope for my children is that their unique talents and personalities don’t get knocked out of them. That my parenting, their schooling, and their career paths don’t knock it out of them. That they can stick to who they are.

This is me thirty years ago. I haven’t changed much (and I mean that in a good way).

I’m still wearing a denim jacket. I’m still going to Billy Bragg gigs. I still care about making the world a better place. I’m still passionate about justice prevailing. I like being the rebel, and doing things my way. I love going out for a day with my camera or notepad (and I’m still hoping to get a dog some day).

Because sometimes the trick to growing up is to stick to who you really are.
